A Biomechanical Analysis of the Basketball Jump Shot

Basketball is a popular game in Zimbabwe and all over the world. Shooting, passing, dribbling, rebounding are the main skills used in basketball. Shooting, a very important skill in open play in basketball, is most frequently performed using the jump shot. There is a low conversion rate of the jump shot in the local basketball league. This low rate suggests that Zimbabwean league basketball players have problems in executing the jump shot. This book seeks to determine the release parameters angle of release, velocity of release, and height of release and spin of release used for making successful jump shots and the same parameters that are utilised in making unsuccessful jump shots.
