3S Framework for Elderly care: A Prospect Analysis

At a period when the world is experiencing a demographic revolution, issues of older adult¿s well being has been identified as critical factor in sustainable development. In this regard, a framework involving concepts of social capital, social support and social safety net (3S), may offer one of the most effective ways through which the understanding of religious social capital, can be mobilized as effective safety nets within religious communities. This follows the need to overcome the potential challenges in elder care, related to population aging. The main argument posed by this work is that, social capital remains only a potential capital, unless accompanied by investment and subsequent transformation into an outcome or experience(s).
