“So many things have happened, somebody ought to write a book about it.” This saying was hardly ever more appropriate than for this year’s ADAC Zurich 24h-Rennen at the Nürburgring. Anyone believing that the 43 previous editions had included every thinkable and unthinkable scenario found out that there was still another level. “I will even be telling my grandchildren about it,” Mercedes driver Kenneth Heyer said, and he was not the only one. Competition cars stuck on ice at the race track, a snow ball match between drivers at Fuchsröhre, a lead change on the final lap, a clean sweep of the top four by one brand, five accidents during Top 30 qualifying, a 100-year-old passenger during the Falken Drift Show… there was plenty of action in the Eifel at the end of May, 2016! As usual, this yearbook also casts a glance behind the scenes. Many drivers and teams personally report about their highlights or their bad luck. Next to the overall classification, there are also detailed accounts of the action in the various classes. Support races and the other activities during the event are covered, too, and as usual, the unique results and statistics sections has been included as well. As said: “So many things have happened, we just had to write a book about it.”
