Pyrrole, a heterocyclic aromatic organic compound having important function in fundamental metabolism of all life processes. Pyrrole and its derivatives are widely used as medicines, agrochemicals, dyes, photographic chemicals, perfumes and other organic compounds. As a part of on going programme of studying Systematically the structure-function relationship of biologically significant heterocyclic molecules, so author has attempted to work out the three dimensional structure of a novel halogen (Iodo) derivative of pyrrole, namely 2-Amino-1-(4-iodo-phenyl)-5-oxo-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrrole-3-carboxylic acid ethyl ester, by X-ray diffraction technique.
