Women SHGs and Organic Agriculture in Kannur District, Kerala

Kerala, which has been facing the labour shortage in agriculture for a long time, mainly because of its distinct socio-economic status. So for setting up a sustainable agriculture sector to ensure food security, a program called collective farming is implemented with the active participation of Kudumbashree. And they mainly concentrated in organic farming practice. Increasing health consciousness and environmental concerns the Kudumbashree took up practicing organic farming among SHGs. As such there have been a number of studies on Kudumbashree and organic agriculture. The study conducted to analyze the organic agriculture practice of Kudumbashree units in Kannur district, Kerala.
