Water Harvesting and Its Impact on Ecology in 20th C. Telangana

The Planet Earth and the life forms living on it are inseparable from simple inorganic compound water that covers three quarters of this beautiful Blue Planet; it is undoubtedly the most abundant and the most accessible compound in Nature. Ironically, though it is one of the most studied chemical compounds, perhaps it is the least understood socially. Its omnipresence and abundance make us often think of it as a mere space filler. But today we know that it is a highly reactive substance with several extraordinary properties which have been crucial for the origin and evolution of life on earth. Scientists have gathered undeniable evidence that the first forms of life originated in the aquatic realms. As scientifically proved, water is the matrix of life or more poetically is the cradle of life because life has originated and evolved to a great extent in the lap of water. Even after billions of years of evolutionary changes, a majority of life forms continued to thrive in water.
