Vision Based Assistive System for Label and Object Detection

The visual impairment community is very diverse in terms of degree of vision loss, age, and abilities. Vision loss affects almost every activity of daily living. Walking, driving, reading and recognizing objects, places. A camera based system is proposed to help blind persons in Text Reading and object detection in their daily lives. It consists of a digital camera mounted on the person¿s eyeglass that takes images on demand. The image is processed to produce the output. The output is the information in image and is provided in the form of audio to the blind user itself. The image taken is processed to help blind persons for reading texts from labels, product packaging, papers, books and also the objects, and currency in the image are detected.
