Virus(es)Infecting Prunus spp.:Characterization and Diversity Analysis

In India Horticultural exports contribute about 8 per cent in total agricultural exports. This calls for efficient health certification, production and marketing strategies. Significant development has taken place in international trade regime for fair and non-discriminatory trade. Economic importance of the pome and stone fruits for the hilly states of India is due to suitable climate conditions. However plant viruses infecting these trees sharply decrease their production and export quality. It is therefore important to identify these viruses and create awareness among growers. The problem is compounded by the fact that a thorough screening of these crops has not been done from the aspect of virus infections in Indian scenario. Therefore not much information is available and only limited reports are available. This book is a step a head of the information which is already available.
