Vegetable Oil Epoxidation

The book is mainly concerned with the development of processes for the environment¿friendly product, namely, epoxidised vegetable oil, from locally available renewable raw materials. Epoxidised vegetable oils can be a suitable substitute of phthalates compounds as plasticizers. The major applications of the epoxidised oil(EO) are: Intermediates for alcohols, alkanolamines, carbonyl compounds, polyesters & polyurethanes, use as plasticizers, Stabilizers for PVC resins to improve flexibility, elasticity. About 250 KTPA epoxidised soya oil and linseed are used as plasticizes. However, the cost of EO greatly depends on local & cheap availability of raw material. In this book, the process of epoxidation procedure, effect of various parameters and its analysis is explained in details.
