Using Critical Theory Approaches to Teach Higher Level Thinking

This book is helpful to high school students, curriculum designers, and high school teachers. This book points to the importance of utilizing critical theory as a philosophical foundation to redesign not just language arts, but rather all content area curricula. It includes the use of critical theory approaches and student experiences of these in support of their reflective writing, social consciousness and social engagement. It also includes incorporating problem posing with dialogue and critical media literacy such as documentaries, videos and films, reflection on a series of pictures, combining practice with dialogue, interacting with each other and working with groups on social issues to propose solutions for critical social issues.
