Use of Literature in Developing Speaking Skills

This book addresses the question whether it is possible to teach conversational skills through literature; and, if ¿yes¿, how any benefit can be made accessible to both privileged and non-privileged sections of society in an EFL context. It proposes a rationale for bringing more literary texts into the English classroom in order to change the classroom dynamics in terms of learner confidence, autonomy and output leading towards overall ability to use language orally.
