Use of Facebook by the DELL Students & Its Impact on their CGPA

This paper primarily concerns about the potential impact of Facebook usage on English Language and Literature Department (ELL) students¿ GPA and their English Language development. Keeping this view into account, it raises some significant questions on their time spent, purpose and attitude towards using Facebook in terms of their achieving better GPA. As for the English Language development, it intends to inquire how they are engaging themselves in several activities on Facebook and what kind of impact Facebook has their learning English Language development. So, based on the inquiries mentioned above, the purpose of this study can be three folds: a) if there is any relationship between Facebook use and student¿s GPA; b) for what purpose and attitude towards Facebook use during their study; c) to what extent students are engaging themselves in such activities that impact on their English language development. For the study, a mixed-method approach was adopted and data were collected from about 50 students and 7 teachers out of 203 from the department of ELL at IIUC through Facebook group page and messengers. Based on their opinions data have been analyzed with the discussion.
