TRUSTING LOVE

The desire for transcendence is innate in man. By virtue of his transcendence and his nature as a spirit, he cannot withdraw into himself. The mystical experience, which lies at the heart of religiosity, places us immediately beyond our usual, reassuring categories. Therese embarked on a unique spiritual adventure of a theology of the heart, rather than a theology of the intellect or of reason. To find the God of love, to turn to Him, and to let oneself be transformed and possessed by Him: this is the message of Teresa's mystical life. It is this understanding of the heart that prompts our search. Therese redirects us to the foundation of being and existence, in a spirit of listening, prayer, silence and commitment. "Trusting-love" does not mean "loving trust". It is love that becomes trusting and not vice versa. With this book, we aim to make "trust" or the doctrine of Therese's "spiritual childhood" the keystone for approaching her theology of love - the path to perfection rediscovered in the course of her spiritual journey.
