Transfer in the acquisition of English Relative clauses

The thesis under study is an attempt to investigate Transfer in the acquisition ofEnglish Relative Clauses (RLCs) by Moroccan EFL Learners. It aims to studythe factor of transfer that interferes negatively in the uses of RLCs by learners.From the aspect of transfer, sixty University students of English were selected randomly for the three tasks intended to be among the adopted tools of investigation ¿sentencecombining task, grammaticality judgement task and composition task. Analysisof data by means of Excel revealed students¿ weaknesses in using RLCs asdemonstrated by the high frequency of errors they generally make in the writtentests of this specific aspect of language and also uncovered transfer errorscommitted by BA learners of English..
