The Nexus Between Public Expenditure and Economic Growth:

This study analyzed the relationship between public expenditure and economic growth. The specific objectives of this study are to examine the relationship between capital expenditure on economic services and economic growth, to evaluate the relationship between capital expenditure on social and community services and economic growth, and to assess the relationship between expenditure on transfers and economic growth. The study used the secondary data from CBN Statistical Bulletin from 2004 ¿ 2018. The results of the study indicated that Capital Expenditure on Economic Services have a positive and significant impact on Economic Growth. Also, the study found Capital Expenditure on Social and Community Services and Expenditure on Transfer have negative and insignificant impact on Economic Growth and that causality runs from Capital Expenditure on Economic Services to Economic Growth.
