The introduction of new agricultural varieties in Buzi

In our rural areas of the DRC, there is a real problem with the extension of farming techniques, agricultural inputs, declining production and food insecurity. Agricultural extension workers in the region do not adequately transmit agricultural knowledge because of the weakness of their approach. It is not enough to distribute improved seeds to farmers to be called agricultural extension. There is also a problem with the recruitment of agronomists by the Congolese government. All of this does not favor agricultural growth in the region. This study used experimental and comparative methods, supported by guided interview techniques and document analysis. The results show that the bulk of the extension work done is still the distribution of agricultural inputs and materials. However, true agricultural extension is also the one that consists in giving permanent technical support to farmers so that they can appropriate the agricultural knowledge that has been extended.
