The countercurrent

This collection of articles by literary critic and essayist E. Pogorelova includes articles on Russian literature of the 2000s-2010s. Her main trends, texts and names are considered in the context of a gradual convergence of "high" and "mass" art, in the light of the evolution of both individual writers and whole literary movements from the existence in a closed community for the initiated, which is typical for the literature of the 1990s, to a rapprochement towards the reader, to a frank conversation with him and, ultimately, to literature with a human face. The author focuses on writers and poets such as M. Galina, A. Ivanov, E. Chizhova, O. Chukhontsev and others. The special attention in the collection is given to children's literature, which today addresses the issues that concern the reader earlier and more readily than adults. The collection may be of interest both to students and teachers of the humanities who deal with the modern literary process, and to all who are interested in modern literature as such.
