The Challenges of Governance in Mali

The management of public action in Africa is a major challenge to the development of the continent. Many initiatives have been taken with a view to improvement. However, despite these efforts, we can see that many states are experiencing crisis situations, which call for in-depth reflection with a view to finding appropriate ways of overcoming these shortcomings. In line with this, Mali, which was considered one of the best models of democratic governance in Africa, joined the continent's most innovative initiative, the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM), aimed at improving governance through constructive and participatory evaluation. Despite joining the APRM and being evaluated by it, and subsequently receiving recommendations, Mali has been facing a deep crisis since 2012, the causes of which appear to be governance-related.
