The contribution of community participation towards project sustainability is no longer questionable as many studies indicate there is strong positive correlation between these variables. For an intervention to be able to address the real needs of community in long range, the participation of a particular community in project identification, design, implementation, control and ownership is of vital importance. However the big challenge to development practitioners is on how to interpret and apply the theoretical concept in real setting.
