Student Centered Learning in the Medical Curriculum in India

A student-centered learning strategy is a collaborative and shared approach between students and teachers. This approach changes the role of the teacher and shifts the teaching-learning method from the conventional teacher-centered to the betterment of the students. The optimal goal of the Student Centered Learning strategy is that the development of lifelong learning and decision-making skills among students. SCL strategies can be well adapted and applied to regular large group teaching. There are misconceptions about SCL that it cannot be applied to large group teaching and teaching within the lecture hall. Within the large group and clinical teaching, SCL can be easily practiced, there are various SCL strategies that can be selected and applied according to the convenience of the learning environment.
