State, Church and tax immunity

Ever since the colonisers landed on Brazilian soil, our country has shown day after day the growing manipulation of other cultures and ideas over ours. When it comes to the religious aspect, it was no different. The first religious movements in Brazilian lands had a desire largely to obey what dictated the State of the time, and thus join the forces that the Portuguese Crown needed to seize more and more of our Brazil. This union between State and Church has perpetuated itself over our nation until the present day, albeit in a masked form. However, the benefits that the State granted to the one that helped it in the beginning, the Church, led to a problem that needs to be circumvented: The Commerce of Faith. With privileges granted by the State, the current Brazilian religious scenario is out of step with what should really be its main concern: social causes, the good of others, the gospel pure and simple.
