Solar Plant Monitoring Using IoT and Cloud

The output from Solar PV systems is unpredictable and is affected by various environmental and surrounding factors like solar irradiance, temperature, wind, orientation of the panels, shading and soiling on the panels. Also, the data produced by the IoT systems is huge and needs to be stored and managed appropriately to get the desired information. Therefore, there should be a system in place that could monitor the output and parameters of the system remotely from a centralized or decentralized location. Also, it should be capable of locating faults or any abrupt behavior in the system as a faulty panel could be burden on the system and can affect the performance of the rest of the system. This book aim to provide a real time, accurate, reliable and cost effective monitoring system based on IoT, cloud and open source platforms that can offer improved monitoring and management of PV systems with reduced human interventions.
