Unemployment is a multidimensional concept that involves economic, social and politic dimensions. We can¿t provide a common definition for youth unemployment due to the issue depends on the social setting, cultural setting, economy setting and structure, and the education system of a given country.

For example, the United Nations (2005) defines ¿youth¿, as those persons between the ages of 15 and 24 years, without prejudice to other definitions by Member States; Ethiopia's national youth policy (2004) defines youth as those aged between 15-29. WHO defines 'Adolescents' as individuals in the 10-19 years age group and 'Youth' as the 15-24 year age group. While 'Young People' covers the age range 10-24 years.
