Consequently, designers are striving hard to establish new and effective tools and techniques to ensure a quality and functional reliability of product for its intended life. This compels them to consider degradation in material properties and product performance with usage time. On the other hand, this may provide the designers a great leverage to decide on quality, reliability, cost and other annoying priorities in an environment of scared resources at early design stage. Thus, it is a challenge to the designers to integrate varying customer¿s requirements with assured consistent product performance throughout its designed life span by making design invulnerable to factors like variability and degradation right at the design stage. This emphasizes the need to check the product behaviour in the early design stage like using simulation of the product for it intended life.
