Shallow foundations

This book is a reference work on the calculation of shallow foundations, in compliance with Algerian (DTR), French (DTU, BAEL) and European (Eurocodes) regulations. It is aimed at students of civil engineering and public works, as well as design office engineers and teachers, providing a comprehensive and practical approach to foundation design.The first chapter presents the essential standards for the justification of shallow foundations. The second chapter focuses on the calculation of bearing capacity, detailing methods based on laboratory tests (odometric compressibility) and in situ tests (pressiometric, penetrometric). The third chapter covers methods for calculating settlement. Finally, the fourth chapter deals with structural resistance, including the calculation of footing reinforcement in accordance with the recommendations of Eurocode 2, BAEL 91 and CBA 93.
