Reports and publications on disability - a collection of articles on the rights of persons with disabilities and the development of civil society in Uzbekistan. Issues concerning the social inclusion of persons with disabilities in all spheres of public life have become increasingly topical in recent years, since Uzbekistan signed the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities on 27 February 2009. Very often the media see their task in arousing public pity and sympathy for persons with disabilities and in obtaining financial support for them. The difficulties caused by disability, the difficulties of disabled people's work, and the positive experiences - the achievements of disabled people in work, their successes in life - are emphasised in every possible way. Today, people with disabilities are becoming active social actors, demanding not only equal opportunities in education and employment, but also the right to self-determination.
