Religious coping strategies in drug addiction

Drug addiction is a public health problem that is affecting more and more people, imposing new ways of organising lives, families and, of course, entire societies. The use of drugs, i.e. elements that numb the mind, has been used since prehistoric times. However, what has been happening to these biopsychosocial beings who are increasingly devastating their lives with the use of these substances? And how has this same individual dealt with and utilised spirituality and religiosity to interpret and overcome devastating events such as drug abuse? This work takes a scientific look at one of the strategies most used to cope with drug addiction and aims to be a legitimate journey into the world of the other, exploring contact with the sacred and the use of religious logic to overcome difficulties.
