Religion and Health

Good health is a major concern for all living creatures. As far as the Physiological, Psychological and total well-being of a human person is concerned, there exists a correlation between religion, society and the health sciences. Most of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in Ghana and most parts of the world include diseases such as malaria, lower respiratory tract infections, stroke, cardiovascular diseases, and diarrhoea diseases. Making quality and affordable healthcare accessible to the people ensures that people are protected from healthcare-related harm had been the priority of every government. However, many will still opt for faith healing despite the availability of proper medical attention.Many have worsened their condition due to the delays caused at the faith healing centres and by the time they have reached the hospital, it is too late for any treatment to be administered. This book seeks to explain the influence of religion as a determinant of health-seeking behaviour and the effects of religious involvement on health. This book, also, provides information to healthcare professionals on the various health services for operative policies to be made.
