Conceptual orientation of the understanding of ecumenism and diaconal learning is needed. Emergence, development, themes and goals are of interest. Additional theological education (ecumenism) and civic education (diaconal learning) - faith and action - in connection with intercultural competence enrich ecumenical thinking in the context of cultural-religious competence. Ecumenism and diakonia can be described as a journey. The way is the goal. When people of the same conviction unite, a reflected community of the way emerges. Action demands willingness, empathy and acceptance of the other. More recently, there has been a rediscovery of leading figures in Christianity and an increasing involvement in diaconal activities with the need in education.
