Prostate Cancer Early Detection

Cancer is a major health concern and a significant cause of morbidity and mortality. Prostate cancer is one of the major leading causes of cancer-related deaths among men in the world and men gets more vulnerable to it as they advance in age. However, this disease is most successfully treated when found early. The fear of having prostate cancer can be devastating to men, many treats it as a death sentence or disease of the wealthy which results to late presentation and thus high rate of death on related ailments. Ignorance, poverty and the assumption by some men that lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) are part of the normal aging process etc. has been their plight. Enlightenment on what might trigger the condition, preventive measures, risk factors associated with prostate cancer and available treatment options is needed. Since inadequate information has likely resulted to late detection of the disease among these men, identifying and meeting such information needs by means of educating and motivating them to terminate the situation, gave rise to the publication of this book. Prevention they say is better than cure.
