This book entitled "Prevention of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in patients taking psychotropic drugs" provides a simple, analytical and concise description of cardiac events and, in some cases, sudden death resulting from the use of psychotropic and somatic drugs. The authors focus on the risk factors represented by age, sex, geographical region, metabolic syndrome, obesity, diabetes, smoking, etc. They describe the interactions between cardiovascular mortality and psychiatric disorders, while also discussing the main causes of excess cardiac mortality (myocardial ischaemia, heart failure, dilated cardiomyopathy, myocarditis, etc.).
