He joined the National Socialist Workers Party on May 3rd, 1933, authorities backdated that to May Ist 1933. His betrayal of philosophy as the pursuit of wisdom has troubled many, including his friend Hannah Arendt, a close friend who had been a student of Heidegger and was herself Jewish.
