Performance evaluation on identification

Malaria diagnosis by microscopy is the gold standard method for confirming the cases. In spite of clinical symptoms based diagnosis, the inability of laboratory professionals on microscopy diagnosis has led to over as well as under diagnosis. This may results inappropriate use of anti-malarial drugs that increases the risk of drug resistance; and other diseases are overlooked and not treated in a timely manner. At the time, the performances of laboratory professionals are poor due to inadequate equipment, insufficient training, lack of supportive supervision, and lack of skills of the technician. Target group for which the book was written ¿ Used to provide information about the performance of Malaria Microscopists who are working on a place which is not endemic area like Addis Ababa & surrounding area. ¿ Provide information which is used to improve the performance of Malaria microscopist based on identified gaps. ¿ It provides a lot of information for policy developers, National and Regional organizations, FMoH, and authorized bodies to work hard from their side based on the study findings.
