Participation of gender in agriculture profession

It was gratifying to note that the level of participation of male and female was quite different in various activities. It has been noticed that the activities like land preparation, irrigation, application of fertilizer and manure etc were exclusively performed by the male members of family while other activities such as intercultural operation and harvesting were female dominated tasks. In case of livestock enterprise, majority of the activities such as care of animal, milking, animal feeding etc were carried out by the female. In poultry and fishery enterprise, it has been pointed out that both male and female contributed in performing numerous activities. With regarding the decision making pattern, female actively participated in taking the decisions like selection of crop; weeding; harvesting; vegetables; sell of milk & its product etc.
