Parenting Styles, Personality, Motivation and Academic Achievement

Parenting styles, personality and motivation has consistently been shown to relate various outcomes such as academic achievement. The results of the current research will guide parents to have a better understanding of their parenting style that they have been practicing all this while. If the findings of the present study finds that authoritative parenting style is positively correlated with students¿ academic achievement, parents can be convinced to use authoritative parenting. Changes can be made to fit the most suitable style in helping their children to build their personality and attain achievement. The findings of this research can help teachers in overcoming learning difficulties among the students. The teachers can build a learning atmosphere that covers aspects which will enhance the motivation level of the students, intrinsically or extrinsically. This study also can help counselors to acquire parents involvement through parent consultation, parent education classes that teach parents parenting skills as well as ways to support their children in schools.
