Organic waste use in farming and yellow pepper production in Nigeria

The study identified the factors constraining the use of organic waste in urban farming in Enugu State, Nigeria. The result showed that the major constraints to the use of organic waste in urban farming were health/environmental, economic, socio-personal/household and government/official attitude. Despite these identified constraints, increased use of organic waste (manure) in urban farming is recommended to increase agricultural productivity. The study analyzed the profitability of organic manure use in yellow pepper production in Nsukka Enugu State, Nigeria. Yellow pepper enterprise is generally profitable; however use of organic manure only was more profitable than use of both organic and chemical fertilizers.
