Multi-National Oil Companies and Human Capital Development

The purpose of the book is to investigate the contributions of multi-national oil companies in Nigeria to indigenous human capital development in Niger Delta Region in Nigeria between 1993 and 2002. Because of incessant complaints by the indigenes of Niger Delta Region of marginalization by multi-national oil companies operating in Niger Delta Region, this book will aid understanding of the value added by the management of these companies on indigenes of host communities and how they can maximize the satisfaction of indigenes of oil producing communities and business success. Findings from this investigation would provide the tool to gain deep organizational insight into how effective indigenes of oil producing communities are included in human capital development for strategic decision making and management. Results from the study revealed that Shell Development Petroleum Corporation's human capital development strategies impacted positively on indigenes of oil producing communities. While, human capital development strategies of Chevron Nigeria Limited and Nigerian Agip Oil Company Limited impacted negatively to indigenes of oil producing communities in Niger Delta Region.
