Mitigation of Malicious Nodes in MANET's Using Trust Management

Due to the vast use of hand held devices, Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) is a blooming technology in today¿s scenario. MANETs refer to self organized networks formed by mobile nodes without using any fixed infrastructure and are free from centralized control and access point. They are preferred in those emergency situations such as earthquake and military-related operations when there is a need to set up a working network so as to provide communication with ease . But, the major issues involved with the MANET are lack of resources, lack of centralized control and varying mobility that leads to frequent path breaks. As there is always a need for cooperation between the different nodes to ensure proper communication, the willingness of a node to participate in the data communication is essential. In order to ensure prompt data delivery, the behavior of nodes in the path has to be analyzed and it can be performed using trust management.Trust management in MANETs, which includes trust establishment, trust update & trust revocation, is more challenging than that in traditional centralized environments.This book aims to provide sound knowledge to researchers who are working in this area.
