Microscopy - The beauty of the macroscopic within the microscopic

While optical microscopes open the door to the microbiology universe, electron microscopes open the door to the material science universe. Metals, ceramics and more - electron microscopes allow the user to dive into the micro and nanometer scale and discover a whole new world. While scruttining samples, the user can be confronted to familiar shapes, to microscopic inorganic worlds of uncanny beauty. This books shows some of the beautiful landscapes that the author encountered wihtin her reseach in material science, as well as the beauty associated with the miscrocope hardware itself. The images taken with a scanning electron microscope all display some geometry or feature that leads into a different universe, while explaining the artefacts and some of the inner workings of a scanning electron microscope.
