Methodology to Develop Depth Classification Scheme for Physics

"Classification has been one of the prime knowledge organization techniques used in the libraries and information centers to mark and park the books and other reading material. Classification being an intellectual activity it is both time consuming and demanding. At the same time, it is very complex activity as one need to consider many aspects of the subject of the document while classifying. Libraries are using information technology extensively in all library housekeeping operations except classification. On the backdrop of this automation of classification is very important. Efforts for developing automatic classification scheme are going on for quite some time. With computer¿s limitations in understanding the natural language, there are some challenges in developing automatic classification scheme. Present book elaborates the challenges in automatic classification and suggests the methodology to develop such scheme for Physics.
