Men in search of themselves

This paper deals with the possibilities of promoting (male) autonomy in the context of couple relationships. Using the example of the work with Mr. K., stations from the course of the one-year psychotherapy process in the psychodrama method are described. The theoretical background is formed by a review of the psychodramatic literature published to date on working with men, an analysis of the often difficult socio-cultural situation in which men find themselves today, the psychodramatic role theory, as well as the dynamics of autonomy and relationship, which (not only for men) must always be shaped anew. Moreno's visionary idea of an "autonomy of interdependence", supplemented by newer concepts from relationship research, is related to the practical psycho-therapeutic work with Mr K.
