Management and Optimization

The route to process optimization must be permeated by the principles of Quality Management to ensure the achievement of the proposed objectives. In addition to Quality Management, it is necessary to consider Change Management, which is necessary to design a system that is sustainable over time. In the case of the agricultural sector, the analyses of the problems identified there tend to focus on economic and social aspects, leaving aside the consideration of the processes in their micro-dimensions and their interrelation within the organizational units. Therefore, this book proposes an approach to the productive situation of avocado in the Dominican Republic, considering the methods and tools in use, in contrast with the best practices of harvesting, storage and transportation of the crop. The conclusions highlight the importance of reviewing and systematizing processes, from a management perspective, for increasing value in each of the links that make up the production chain. As an added value, engineering solutions to the problem of low productivity levels in the fruit industry are proposed.
