Local chicken production under scavenging system

The local chicken sector provides a valuable function in the livelihood of rural smallholders. The local chicken production plays an important role as an income generator, for household consumption and for social and cultural obligations at low inputs. Even though local chickens provide a valuable function in the livelihood of rural smallholders, little research and development work has been carried out to characterize, understand and improve the local chicken production systems. This book, therefore, provides valuable information on the characteristics of local chicken production and their production performance under scavenging system. Therefore, this book is useful to researchers, experts and extension workers who are interested to work and study on local chicken production.
