Land snails in Egypt

Ecological studies The land snail species Theba pisanan and Eobnia vermiculata were collected in relatively high population densities and frequencies of occurrence from Alexandria and El-Beheira Governorates. Also Helicella Vestalis and cochecella acuta were collected in relatively moderate. On the other hand, Ermina desertorum, Monacha obstructa, Oxychillus sp. and Romina decolata were found in relatively low population densities and frequencies of occurrence in both Governorates. Control studies The obtained results indicated that the molluscicidal efficiency of the tested baits against E.vermiculata could be arranged as follows: methomyl bait followed by aldicarb bait, Metaldehde bait, thiodicarb bait and abamectin bait, after15 day¿s treatment respectively. On the other hand, the efficiency of tested baits against T.pisana snail could be arranged as follows: aladicarb bait followed by methomyl bait, metaldehyde bait, thiodicarb bait and abamectin bait, after 15 days of treatment, respectively.
