Introduction to clinical microbiology

This book describes the basics of sampling, storage and transport of test material and microbiological methods of identification of opportunistic pathogens. A chapter is devoted to healthcare-associated infections and the sanitary and epidemiological regimen of healthcare facilities. The basic reasons of activity of opportunistic microorganisms and increase of number of opportunistic infections are stated. A description of some diseases caused by opportunistic infections is given.
