Introduction to Bioclimatology

This document is an introduction to Bioclimatology which exposes the main climate parameters commonly studied. It is intended for students of natural and life sciences. Climatology is a fundamental basis for students of natural sciences that allows them to interpret several phenomena (biochemical, physiological, behavioral, etc..) observed in plants and animals. The document gives an idea of the sources of climatic information which are the meteorological stations and the different techniques of exploitation of these data. Then, the climatic factors treated are defined, their method of measurement and the unit of measurement are also given. A part of the document deals with the climatic classification by the use of the simple climatic indices (indices of aridity and bioclimatic classification).
