Intraoral Autografts in Dentistry

Bone Grafting is one of the commonest operations performed in Orthopedics. Its indications include non-union, delayed union, packing bone cysts and cavities, elevating depressed articular fractures and reconstruction of large bone defects. Intraoral sites are often preferred since they allow harvesting of bone from the area adjacent to the reconstruction. Intraoral bone, grafts have also been used in other reconstructive procedures in maxillofacial area, for example, in tumor, trauma and orthognathic surgery.
