International Development / Development Studiescourses are in increasingly high demand due to theirlinkage with Development Aid and its effectiveness inreducing poverty across the globe. InternationalDevelopment studies play a significant role inpoverty reduction; post-conflict development;disaster relief and humanitarian assistance; GenderEquality; and peace building & human security. Thereare questions of how the academy deals with issues of¿development¿ and ¿Third World¿ heterogeneity,relevance of course content, motives, processes andmethodologies that shape Development Studiesprograms. The aim of this edited volume is to providea forum for academics, development practitioners,policy makers and researchers to contest the waydevelopment studies are taught in higher educationinstitutions and provide fresh insights fordevelopment and aid effectiveness.
