Information Technology, Ranganathan's Five Laws & University Libraries

The Five Laws of Library Science are a perennial source of inspiration for services and guidance for the dynamic development of the subject. ¿Moreover, these laws provide the basis to establish to develop or to reorganize the library and information system for information storage and retrieval. Application of information technology tools have supported the various activities of library organization and management for accomplishing the information business in university libraries and indeed to satisfy the basic essence of Five Laws of Library Science. It has been examined that the five laws of library science interprete the library and its services not only in the old contexts of the society but also in the context of modern information society. On account of this accountability of the five laws of library science vis-à-vis applications of information technology for the organization, Management and dissemination of information took place in University Libraries of Rajasthan have been examined and evaluated.
