Indian Version of K-ABC

In present day scenario, measurement of intelligence and achievement is very important aspect of psychological evaluation. The Kaufman Assessment Battery for Children (K-ABC) is one of such comprehensive intelligence tests, which measures both intelligence and achievement. It was standardized on Spanish and Mexican population. Indian version of this test is the need of the hour, since we do not find any comprehensive test measuring both intelligence and achievement presently applicable in India. The K-ABC will be helpful in identifying children with below average intelligence and achievement levels so that special educational programs and intervention can be planned for them. This work is an effort to assess the applicability of K-ABC to the Indian context, and to develop Indian version of the K-ABC. The Modified Indian version of K-ABC can be used in India. It will be a breakthrough to apply this test in Indian set-up for psychological & clinical assessment, psycho-educational evaluation, educational planning & placement, and neuro-psychological assessment. The study may serve as a guideline for those who are working in the area of Child Psychology & Psychological testing
